A descendant of the Burri Gubba and Kuku Typan tribes of North Queensland, Muralappi (Jessica Skeen-Mckinnon) was born into a family of talented artists and craftspeople. The name Muralappi translates to “youngest of my generation”, being the youngest of 14 children.
Jessica has painting since she was seven. Inspired by her father, she has evolved her artistic talent into one which reflects on nature and a message of identity – questioning our roots and belonging. Her art uses traditional motifs and colours from the desert, rainforests and oceans of Queensland.
